Music Monday #24 - Jonalyn Viray

Monday, July 29, 2013

Here's another song from the television series My Husband's Lover. And this is beginning to be one of my favorite songs.

I know that this wound will bleed again
Now I’m here right beside the one I love
I see he’s in love with someone else
Now I know I just got to let him go
Because it’s over, Help me get over

I don’t know what to do
There is no easy way of letting go
But I know there’s no sense
In holding on too much to something fading
Help me, Help me
Help me get over you
[ Lyrics from: ]
Now I see, You’re so happy with her
Deep inside I just don’t know what to feel
Oh, I’m sure, You don’t need me anymore
So I’ll go on, Try my best to just move on
Now that it’s over, I got to get over

(Repeat Chorus)

I know I’ve got to leave it all behind
Somehow I’ll try to get you off my mind
So tell me what to do
Help me get over…

(Repeat Chorus)

Help me get over you…

And here's our version of My Husband's Lover....

Internet Action Star

I just got to post this article about my "crush". I admire him so much. I hope that one day we'll meet...

Source: Yahoo! News

What's an Internet action star doing in a romantic comedy?

Ramon Bautista doesn’t mince words in describing himself. He unabashedly refers to himself as the “Internet Action Star,” with 574,339 Twitter followers to prove it.

His pieces of advice on love is immortalized in the self-help book “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?” which has sold 100,000 copies in one year. Star Cinema not only adopted it as the title of its new Kim Chiu-Xian Lim romantic comedy. The bosses behind the film outfit, which is marking its 20th year, decided to carry Bautista’s upfront, tongue-in-cheek style by making a film adaptation of his book.  It also took in Bautista as part of the cast.

This is not the UP film professor’s first crack in the movies.

He has appeared in indie films and in the 2012 comedy-action-horror film “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.”

“Bakit  Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo” is his first time to work with a giant film company.

Up close, something in Bautista transcends the physical. The guy may not have classic matinee idol looks, but he has the wit, humor and deadpan style of cracking jokes that give him star quality.

Make that internet star quality.

“Artistahin ang lahi namin,” he announces to the press. “'Yung nanay ko,  nasa ‘Iron Man.’  Siya yung tumatakbo nung may nagpasabog.”

Before you can ask him if he’s telling the truth, Bautista adds, “Nung tinanong ko ang nanay ko kung saan siya don (sa mga tumatakbo), sabi niya, basta, isa diyan.”

You end up laughing, you couldn’t care less if he’s spreading fact or fiction.

Kim, Xian and Kean Cipriano are just as amused.

Kim, who didn’t believe at first that Bautista is a UP professor until one of his students told her that students line up to enroll in his film class, is impressed.

“May sense siya kausap. Ang dami kong natututunan sa kanya. Matatawa ka kasi hindi mo alam kung seryoso o hindi ang sinasabi nya.”

“Noong nag-shooting kami at nagkausap, nagapatawa siya. Ang lalim pala nya!” Xian chimes in.

Proud fan

Kean is a proud fan.

“Binasa ko ang libro nya. Sinabi niya doon na pag ma-in love ka, malaking  possibility na masasakatan ka. At walang ibang makakatulong sa ‘yo para maka move on o ma-in love kundi sarili mo lang. Kailangan magtira ka sa sarili mo.”

It is this dictum of self-love that makes Bautista’s blog so uplifting and popular.

“Simply put, the best revenge is to live an awesome life,” he writes in his blog.

He also believes that “There's more to life than love.”

But the guy himself is unattached.

“I’m single and ready to mingle,” he describes himself.

How can he come up with all these pieces of advice that have become hits among young people like his students?

“Nagka-love life na ako,” he admits.

He also takes a cue from others who have loved and lost, and from good old common sense.

The teacher in Bautista comes out when he tells his followers, “Pag na-reject ka, it’s not the end of the world. There’s more to life than a love life. Kasama yung sakit sa buong process.”

Xian echoes Bautista’s words.

“Only you can make your own happiness.”

Xian, Kim and their co-stars will show just how this is done – at least on screen – when “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo” opens in theaters nationwide starting Wednesday, July 31.

Blame It On the Rain

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

I never been fond of rains. I grew up believing (my mother) that raindrops are dirty and dangerous. In my younger years, my siblings and I watched our cousins bathe in the rain from our windows since we are not allowed  to do what their parents allowed them to do. My mother perpetually told us that we will get sick if we go out in the rain. And I believe her. Growing up I never like the rain. I hate it when my feet or my shoes got wet from rainfalls, bringing an umbrella was also a big (and difficult) task for me, the road becomes muddy, the long traffic and it's hard to commute when it rain. To put it simply, RAIN GETS IN THE WAY OF MY LIFESTYLE! Rain dampens my mood. I don't go out when it rain to the point that I miss (deliberately) attending appointments and even school or work.  Just this year three of my most anticipated event was cancelled because of the rain.

We are scheduled to hike at Mt. Pico de Loro last April but a thunderstorm happen. It was supposed to be our last hurrah for the summer. But mountains and lightnings are not a good combination. I guess the mountains will have to wait for us next year.

And eversince I fell in love with zumba last year, I am looking forward to an event where I can dance and enjoy the company of friends and strangers apart from the usual gym where I frequent. And last May 26, Brainbox and Zumba Philippines organized a Zumba Party @ The Park to be held at Bonifacio Global City. My superfriends and I were so excited and arrived early at the event place. Alas! The rain pours forcing the organizers to cancel the party. Good thing, and I just learned this week, the event was rescheduled on August 3 at a different venue. It will be held at The Circuit, Makati.

Finally, the third event is the Robinson Fit & Fun Buddy Run supposed to be held last June 30 at Bonifacio Global City. Me and my running buddy Tinay registered at the 5K category. Of course we are both excited for this event since it's our first buddy run and we heard that the organizer give away lots of grocery items as a treat. And, as you may have guess, it rains. Not just a trickle of rain but the whole Metro Manila and most part of Luzon is under Storm Signal No. 2. To ensure our safety, according to the organizer, they have to postpone the run. My friend Tinay traveled from Batangas, her hometown, only to find out, when she got to Manila, that the event was cancelled. What a bummer, right? Nevertheless, the run was rescheduled this August 10.

I know that it seems everything goes well in the end. That is if the rain won't dampen the occasion...again. I'm sorry if I am being peevish here. Don't blame me...blame it on the rain.

I will have my first Milo Marathon this weekend (July 28). I hope the weather will be kind and let me earn my first Milo certificate. I pray and hope that the rain won't come and let me run and enjoy the moment.

Music Monday #23 - Kuh Ledesma

Monday, July 22, 2013

With my current addiction to the television series 'My Husband's Lover', I can't seem to get this song out of my mind. It speaks to me (naks!). And I know YOU can relate with the song too. The original artist for this song is Ms. Kuh Ledesma but for the theme song of the series it was sang by Jonalyn Viray. Here goes...

Should we stay or should we say goodbye
Walk away or give it one more try
What a waste to let our dreams just fly
And as the days go by
We'll always wonder why.

Are we glad to find one day we're free
Is this what we really want to be
Brand new lives, we need to have so much
It really is quite tough
When love is not enough.

Tell me why did we find each other
Only to part ways in the end
Tell me how we learned to love each other
And tell me why two people have to change.

Was it pride that made made us drift away
Hurting words we should not even say
Hold my hand and look straight in my eyes
If we can't say goodbye
Then we're worth one more try.

Friday Letters

Friday, July 12, 2013

Dear Blog, I miss you! I haven't been writing for weeks now. Again, me with my work excuses. But I promise to be back starting next week. I just had to post something today to let you know that I'm still alive. Barely actually, since I am feeling sick today. I might skip work tomorrow so I can be up and about by Monday. It's Saturday, it's allowable. My work is really kicking my butt. Going back to the writing part, by next week I'll start blogging about my recent adventures at Davao, our weekend spa bonding at Wensha and other not-too-exciting events in my life. Soon you'll be hearing (reading) again from me. Dear Vincent, Eric and Lally, You're driving me crazy! You know how addicted I am with television series and how I dislike watching GMA-7 shows. Alas! Here I am watching episodes per episode of GMA-7' new teleserye My Husband's Lover. A story about a confused gay guy (Vincent) whose in love with his boy bestfriend (Eric) but become married instead to Lally so that he won't ruin his family's reputation, his dad being a military general. But Eric and Vincent become reunited and their relationship continues. Hence the conflict begin. I love how the show bring every audience to the edge of their seats. I am very much looking forward to what happens next. By the way, since I abhor watching channel 7 (GMA) I am watching My Husband's Lover on the internet. So I guess, no harm done on my pride. Dear Body Weight, What's up? You I guess coz you're still going up! The running and the zumba is not working for me. Maybe because I cannot stop eating. Again with the eating part. As my friend Dinah told me we are exercising because we love to eat. I guess it's a loose end. I won't be hoping for a bikini-ready body anymore just a healthy one. So, more zumba classes and fun runs? Bring it on! Dear Money, nevermind!
