NESCAFE Cappuccino is the most indulgent coffee I've ever had!

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

Tiring weekend, Monday blues, morning traffic, office deadlines, blog topics, online school lessons, mommy duties...these are some of the things that exhaust the likes of me. Obligations and responsibilities are common words to me. Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining. I love being a wife, a mom, an office girl a blogger, an online student and sometimes a mountaineer and a traveler, if my schedule permits.  Too much to handle, you say? Nah!  I love doing everything. And I know I will be rewarded at the end of the day. And what's more rewarding than a cup of NESCAFE Cappuccino. Its sweet aroma perks my every day. And I love how the coffee foam and the choco sprinkles in NESCAFE Cappuccino makes drinking coffee a more indulgent experience. I always make a heart out of the choco sprinkles over the coffee foam. It makes my coffee more special and me feel more loved!

Yummy!!!

Having this everyday feels like a reward for a job well done. Come, let's indulge.....

When Cadbury Takes Us To Paris

Monday, November 10, 2014

With all the stress from work and everyday life, it is customary among our barkada to indulge ourselves to a treat. A sweet ending to a day well done. And what else can be sweeter than an indulgence of Cadbury Dairy Milk. And now,Cadbury is introducing two new flavors...French Vanilla and Chocolate Mousse. And of course, our barkada is Team French Vanilla!!! We love its light exquisite Vanilla cream-filled chocolate flavor. The taste would take  us at dreamy Paris. Relaxing fashionably on the streets of Paris eating the chocolate or being romantic and sharing Cadbury French Vanilla under the Eiffel Tower. It's almost real....

What an exquisite way to end the day. Smooth, creamy, light Vanilla cream-filled chocolate bar and friends to enjoy with. Perfect!

Go #TeamFrenchVanilla!!!

Happiness!!!

Friday, September 26, 2014

I am planning to write a blog post regarding my Christmas wish list just like what I did 2 years ago. I believe that my wishes will have better results when I share it with the world. And I guess I am so blessed. One thing on my 'future' list is the Samsung Tab 3 Lite which I plan to purchase upon receipt of my Christmas bonus. Last night, after my scheduled facial, me and my husband meet up at SM San Lazaro. He told me that he plans to buy a new cellphone for himself since the one he is using is almost 4 years old already. When he found his cellphone ( O+ 8.92 Android) he then ask me if I want a new phone too. Tempting isn't it? But I love my current phone. I've been using it for 3 years and still in good condition. My phone and I been through a lot together so I feel very sentimental to let go. (Drama queen!) So then I told my husband that I prefer the Samsung Tablet instead. I meant it as a joke. But lo! He bought me one. Yey! I am so happy. One item crossed out of my list even before I made the list. Happiness! And by the way I am blogging using my new Samsung Tab 3.

Friday Letters

Friday, August 15, 2014

Dear Blog, My apologies. Believe me when I tell you that I  never ignored you. I check on you regularly. Visit read-worthy blog sites on my list. I just can't find time to write. And it's unforgivable, I know. I never had the time. I have this new project and it occupy most of my free time. Plus my office work is overloading. And I have my mommy duties. Sigh. I have many plans for you. I have blog topics line up. I plan to do a make-over for you. If only I can find time. But promise, I will. Dear Husband, You are the one whose ignoring somebody. And that's somebody is me....(insert sad face here). I know you don't intend to but it still hurts. Please leave your work. Find another job with regular working hours. You are like a zombie when you're at home. You only sleep. When you're awake, it's as if you're still asleep. I miss you. Dear Photobook, Thank you! I'm so glad I discovered you. And I thank Metrodeal for giving us the promo of a lifetime (exagerrated lang). The promo I was talking about is you get 100% off on a P1,200.00 worth of an item, a 40-page 6" x 6" photobook. You will only pay for the shipping charge. And this promo was on time with my daughter's school project. Instead of creating a scrapbook for her Communication Journal Project, she made an online scrapbook using one of my  Metrodeal/Photobook voucher. I bought ten, by the way. She designed everything and Photobook Worldwide will print and ship her order. And they never let us down. Our order arrived two days before it was due. And we are very satisfied with the outcome. This is my new project and I have plenty of photobooks to finish. And I can't wait. Dear 'We Time', You are long overdue! My superfriends I am calling your attention....we need this, like yesterday! Especially me. I am drowning in stress and frustrations. I badly needed a time-out. Movies and eating-out won't cut it. I need my 'special time'. Help.....

Oh, here's a sample of my on-going project...

Sweet Endings with My Cadburry Barkada

Monday, July 28, 2014

Life can be very stressful especially when you are working 9 to 5 in a trading business. Continuous phone calls, unlimited e-mails, hectic deadlines and a ton of very demanding clients.  These could take a toll in each and every one of us.

Albeit the nerve-wrecking work, we're still very enthusiastic through out the day. We are so looking forward after every work day because of the sweet treat we're having. Having a Cadburry Dairy Milk at the end of the day really does it. With its sweet, creamy, delicious taste it can bring the smile in all of us. It revives our strength and gives us the happy boost we need. We have families to come home to and they still deserve 100% of us. And Cadburry does the job.

What an after office treat...a sweet endings with the barkada!

Unlock Skill with KitKat

We women, and it's a universal truth, have an innate talent in multi-tasking. So, as a mom, wife, full-time employee, helpful friend, kind sister and caring aunt, obedient daughter, runner, traveler and a community volunteer things at hand should be a breeze. I am also systematic in terms of time management. I can very well designate certain task to a particular person to make matters at hand more efficient. I only have one problem....I am forgetful!

Ever since I gave birth to my only child via Cesarean operation last 1997 I felt that the anesthesia had an effect on me. I forget things easily. I forget deadlines causing me to cram. I forget dates/appointments thus making my loveones and friends irritated. I even forget faces thus making me speechless when someone approaches me. It makes me helpless and awkward. But I get help though....from my post-it pad! Yes, call me the 'Post-It Lady'. I have post-its all over my desk at the office, reminders for all the things I need to do and remember. I have a cork board at home for my notes, bills and other concerns. But without all these notes I am hopeless!

one of my most prized possession

And if I could unlock a skill after having a KitKat it would be stupendous! And what skill would it be? Super memory of course. It would be great if I could remember every dates, every appointments, every details of everything. I would be an awesome mom and wife, a great friend, a model employee and a good person. I would stop cramming and finally have a break of my own. Of course, eating KitKat while I'm at it.

When To Spend, When To Save

Thursday, June 19, 2014

I was browsing at the internet for something to read when I found this article here. I just want to share it with your since I found this to be a must-read for everyone.

Sometimes, saving money means spending more now, or it could also be the other way around. Money is just a paper but it’s as complicated as that. Here are areas where you can splurge and instances where you can spend less, or none at all:

WHEN TO SPEND:

  1. Health Investment. Yes, it is the most important. As what everyone will tell you, health is wealth. This doesn’t make you literally rich, but you will save yourself from hospital and medicine bills which is usually a big amount of money. You will not avoid being sick in your entire life, but if you manage to spend more to healthy options early on, the more you will save later.
  2. Choosing the best PC. At a first look and thought, you would always go for the cheaper one. But if you come to think of it, the best deals when it comes to computers are almost always not on the cheapest one. You want to end up with a lighter computer with better battery life and stronger processor – portability, longevity and speed are the main consumption of computer, if you settle with a not-so-functional-but-more-affordable one, expect to buy a computer again after a short period of time. Allot a budget for a good computer especially if you’re going to use it for work or any important matters. You don’t want to be welcomed by a blue screen on valuable situations, right?
  3. Building your house. It’s sure that your house is an investment itself, but be careful on your home improvements like upgrading your kitchen and adding a pool. It’s understandable that you want to maintain a comfortable home and you want to make it easier to sell, if ever, someday.
  4. Go on vacation. It may not be advisable to some, but vacations are the most rewarding things because it gives you unique experiences especially when you’re with people you love. If you can, splurge on vacations especially if you’ve been frugal throughout the year.

WHEN TO SAVE

  1. Airplane Seat. Everything is absolutely the same; don’t make an effort to book the best seat. Promise, you won’t notice any difference on economy to business class. No, it’s not worth it.
  2. Extended Warranties. Any kind of extended warranties on electronics are more or less worthless because if something goes wrong, say on your refrigerator, it will occur on the duration of your manufacturer’s warranty. Also, the cost of extended warranties is almost of the same price of a new appliance. Might as well, buy a new one than spend it on extensions.
  3. Luxury Cars. For sure, it’s something to own a car, but be sure, don’t focus on something that will not be useful to you as the owner. Forget about pride and ego, save on car cost. Don’t buy expensive cars because you will pay far more than its worth.
  4. Kiddie Parties. Your kids, especially when they’re too young, won’t even remember you held a party. It’s great if you keep that fund for extravagant kiddie party for their college fund or emergency cases and your future self will thank you for that wise move.

It pays to know when is the time to be kuripot and when to splurge. Think twice or more before spending your hard-earned money, unless you don’t care at all.

Independence Day

Thursday, June 12, 2014

Today, Philippines celebrate its 116th Independence Day. And I, myself celebrating my liberation. I am liberating myself from negative people that keeps dragging me down. Those people that never truly care for me. That is only on my side when they needed me. Those that hurt me. You know who you are. And finally, I am letting go. I still care about you but I am loving myself more now. This is how it should be. So, goodbye now. Things will get better, you'll see.

Today is Maleficent Day!

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

So excited for the special screening of Maleficent at Shang Cineplex later tonight. Thanks to Nuffnang for the free invites. I will be going together with my daughter. And as she said, we get to watch the cheekbones that can cut through steel. I read somewhere that Angelina Jolie's Maleficent look was Lady Gaga inspired. Just saying.

20 Ways You Can Be The Best Friend Ever

Monday, May 19, 2014

Here's my guide on how you can be the BEST friend ever!

  1. Always have a listening ears and shoulders to cry on. Friendship is all about being there.
  2. Be trustworthy. What your friend share is for your own ears only.
  3. Respect each other. Know both your boundaries.
  4. Travel together. Create great memories.
  5. Be loyal. Stick up to your friend.
  6. Always have a helping hand ready. Help out in anyway you can.
  7. Always have an encouraging words to say. Never let them down.
  8. But be truthful always. Be realistic.
  9. Share laughs.
  10. Take a picture. It pays to have something solid to look at to when you were far from each other.
  11. Have a run away money ready. In case of emergency.
  12. Never judge. Each of us have their own reasons.
  13. In times of trouble always prepare an alibi for your friend.
  14. When your friend dies delete his/her internet history.
  15. Let your friend have other friends too. Never be jealous. You are not alone in this world.
  16. Be free to be yourself around them.
  17. Know their family. They are as important as your friend.
  18. Never fight (seriously). Resolve problems. Don't give up on your friendship.
  19. When you do something nice for a friend don't expect anything in return.
  20. A real friend calls. And with GoUnli20, it's now easy to call without a need for a prefix and it's just P20 for unli calls, 15mb of mobile  surfing, and 20 texts to all networks! Kaya if you need a friend, don't call me, I'll call you!

X-MEN : Days of Future Past

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

I've been a fan of X-Men since college. I am a huge Storm wannabe. Therefor, I am looking forward for the return of my mutant idols on screen. Here's a peek of the movie...

And as for my own past, I have only one regret in life. That is, not finishing my college degree. I fell in love and got pregnant during my senior year in college. I never regret marrying my husband nor having a daughter at a young age. It's just that the timing is not right. If only I finished my degree I could have landed a better job, thus giving me a better salary so I could provide more for my family. Though I know that everything was meant to happen so I could learn from my mistakes. And I still have an opportunity to continue my studies. I just need to find time (and budget) for my degree. All in God's time.

For now, I am enjoying my time being a working mom. And I am looking forward to watch X-Men : Days of Future Past with my family. See you in the movies. :-)

How I Survive A Day Without A Cellphone

Saturday, March 29, 2014

I woke up yesterday morning finding my cellphone's battery almost drain. I tried to charge it before going to work but to no avail. I even tried to charge it at work (using 3 different chargers from my office mates) but it won't charge. After a few minutes my cellphone shut down. I am left aghast! I am never without a cellphone. It's not only for texting and calling. I read e-books with my phone. I played music and games with it. It's my camera, alarm clock, calendar, timer, etc. So how did I survive yesterday without a cellphone? I DIDN'T!!!!

I frequently touch/hold my cellphone as if I could miraculously revive it by touching. I have loads of time for my work but I can't concentrate. I am worried how would my friends and clients reach me if my phone is not working. Two of my clients already called my boss asking what happen. My day become longer than usual. I am halfway of what I am reading on my e-books app. I am worried about my farm at Hay Day and Fairy Farm. I can't post on Instagram. I feel so down most of the time. Like a big part of me was missing. Sigh...

Today I borrowed Leslie's extra phone. It's for texting and calling purposes only. I would bring my cellphone today to its mobile service center and I hope it still can be repaired. I don't want to replace it yet. This is my favorite cellphone so far. It's a cheap phone but it's pretty functional and convenient for me. I can buy more expensive and more functional phone but I am satisfied with my phone. But not since yesterday. I just really hope it can be repaired.

So today, I am surviving without my phone. And maybe tomorrow and next day. And the next day. And the next. Sigh....

Finding Inspiration

Sunday, March 23, 2014

Let me tell you a secret....I am the type of a person who is not easily motivated. Most people see me as a free spirited woman who will do things what she wants and when she wants it. Even my boss positively pointed this out on me. I guess most people think that way too when  they see and come to know me. Well, that is not hard to believe. I like fun stuff. I love lively music. I love to go out (when I have the monetary resources). I want to be surrounded with optimistic happy people. I tried my hardest not to dwell with other people sob stories, unless they are my closest friends and they voluntarily told me their issues and I know for a fact that they needed a friend, or even a listening ear on that precise moment. Cause I want other people to be like that to me too. I don't want to trouble myself with depressing issues that I can't do anything about. I can have all that with all the teleseryes I've been watching. All I'm saying is that I want to be happy. And I am happy. I want people around me to be happy too. That is why I am doing my best to at least be an inspiration to them. The problem is, lately I am finding it hard to look for an inspiration for myself. Unless I am traveling or climbing a mountain I find my days to be boring to death. I tried to be busy, with my office works and household chores. I even went back to running and dancing at the gym. But to no avail. For me everything is a routine. Don't get me wrong I love my life. I love my husband. I am very fond of my daughter. I love the company of my friends. My job is okay. And I got a healthy body that is why I can do what I want. But sometimes I can't help but feel that there is something missing. Maybe because there are things I want to be that I may never achieve. Opportunities missed forever. That feeling of time running out. Oh how I hate it. It makes me feel so old. So depressing. I feel so low that even getting up and moving about is so hard and strange. I don't know what to do. How to keep myself moving without depressing people around me. I feel so helpless. Times like these brought some tears. And I hate myself when I cry. Sigh....I sound like a crazy person. This is enough I guess. Maybe it’s just that time of the month. My hormones are going wild. Maybe tomorrow I'll get better. Things will get better. They always get better. Maybe tomorrow I will find my inspiration. Maybe.

The Things I Miss

Monday, March 17, 2014

Coming from my Cambodia-Vietnam trip my work welcomes me with an open arms and a table-full of quotations and Purchase Orders. And these past weeks I often come home super tired and only thinking of going to bed. Apart from that I am constantly hungry. I don't know if it's stress-eating, but I want to eat all the time. I guess this year I become an official SLOB!

And what I miss most is my rubber shoes. I miss wearing them while I am sweating it  out in the gym dancing zumba or having a tan under the sun because I am running some miles. I promise to myself last night that I will return to my regular exercise routine. I don't have an extensive work-out routine. Just some dancing and running once a  week. It's enough for me to feel great.

I also miss climbing mountains. My climbing buddy (I am talking about you Dinah) promise to climb 12 mountains this 2014. That is 1 mountain per month. And I secretly told myself to climb with her (as much as possible). It's March already and we only get to climb just a single mountain last month.

Lastly, I miss having my 'me'time'. I miss the spa, the facials, the body scrub, the body massages, the sauna, the jacuzzi, the hair spa....all that pampering. Oh I wonder when again...

And I miss doing all of these with my friends.... (sigh)

Thank You World!

Friday, March 14, 2014

This video brought me to tears...happy tears. The whole world knew what happened when Tyhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines, particularly the Tacloban province. I have relatives at Tacloban who suffer the onslaught of Yolanda (our local name for Typhoon Haiyan) which leaves thousands of people dead and millions of property damage. And they, too, among other people affected at Tacloban were recovering months after. THANKS TO THE WORLD. We are a strong spirited nation but we are very thankful to the people all over the world who reaches out (and still reaching out) to help in any way possible. And this video is a 'thank you' to all those who help Tacloban.

When the strongest typhoon meets the strongest people (and with lots of help from the world) Philippines will survive!

What Can I Do To Make My Week Fun and Fab?

Monday, March 03, 2014

It's Monday and I am on my 'Garfield-mood' again. I woke up fine with a sweet kiss from my husband before he left for work. I"m up and about to start my busy week and gone to wake up my daughter. Then suddenly we are having an argument. I misunderstood her instruction as to what time I should wake her up. She missed an 'important' class/group meeting. Well, it's her fault. I ask her what time I should wake her up she replied "7am!". And then she's telling me that what she meant was she needs to be at school at 7am!  Duh! That's two very different thing. Well, I left her to herself since her actual class is at 12 noon. She have plenty of time to throw a fit but I am not gonna be there witnessing it. I'm going to be late for work.

My typical commute going to work is a tricycle ride from our house then a jeepney ride to the office. And the tricycle driver choose this day to get into my nerves. He was insisting that I should ride at the rear side of his motorcycle to accommodate another passenger who specifically told him that she won't ride at the back and would rather choose another tricycle and pay more just to ride comfortably inside a tricycle. Excuse me Mr. Driver! I am your first passenger and there is another woman beside me nearer to your vehicle's entrance but you keep insisting that I should be the one moving. I don't want to make a scene so I just told him NO. And then another passenger came, a guy, and sit at the back and so we're off. But the driver keeps on mumbling, telling things I don't fully understand. But he is referring to my not doing the favor he is asking me. I tried to ignore it but he keeps on talking. I then told him to shut up or I will step off from his tricycle without paying. He shut up, finally.

I told my self to breathe and count to ten. It's too early to ruin my day...or my week. And I am the type of a person who find ways to smile and still enjoy my day albeit a ruined morning. As I ride the jeepney I took my earphones out and attached it to my cellphone. I randomly played a song and guess what's first on my playlist...Pharell William's Happy! Music really makes my day. All my bad mood dissipates. Suddenly I am ready for the day and even for a busy week. And now, I am taking a break, writing on my blog and eating my comfort food...tacos! So bring it on, I'll still enjoy a fun and fab week with my music and my food.

Music Monday #25 - Pharell Williams

Monday, February 24, 2014

This is the perfect song for me. From a very (our own version of) romantic Valentine's date to a 6-days unforgettable Cambodia/Vietnam trip with friends. And now, my husband and I are celebrating our 16th Wedding Anniversary. Actually, tomorrow is our anniversary but he'll be working so we are celebrating in advance today. I'm so happy I cannot contain it!

"Happy"
[Verse 1:]
It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

[Hook:]
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

[Verse 2:]
Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here’s why

[Hook]

Hey, come on

[Bridge:]
(happy)
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
My level's too high
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
I said (let me tell you now)
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
My level's too high
Bring me down
Can't nothing bring me down
I said

[Hook 2x]

Hey, come on

(happy)
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… my level's too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

[Hook 2x]

Come on

Friday Letters

Friday, February 14, 2014

Dear Husband, Happy Heart's Day! Thank you for the chocolates and the flowers (even though I specifically told you I don't want to accept any flowers from you anymore, roses in particular). But I would be jealous of other people receiving their flowers, so I guess I'm glad that I have my own bouquet. Thank you for taking care of me and Leslie. Thank you for being the sweetest. For sticking around especially when I'm in my lowest. For being the most understanding when I'm crazy. Thank you for being a friend that I can never get rid of. It's our 16th Wedding Anniversary on the 25th and I know that what we have is not perfect. But I'm pretty sure that we are perfect for each other. I love you.

Dear Cambodia and Vietnam, See you soon. This vacation would be my most unforgettable. It's my first time traveling outside of the Philippines and this will be our Valentine's and Wedding Anniversary date. Plus we will be with the Superfriends. How perfect! I'm so excited and I can't hide it anymore. Dear Daughter, Your daddy and I will be missing you this coming week. Dami na naming utang sa'yo. Don't worry we'll bring you pasalubong. I love you. Dear Exes, Happy Valentine's to you all. Hoping you are happy as I am now. Dear Money, I don't want to worry myself about you at this moment. I will make do with however little you provide. I can do this!

Facebook : A Look Back

Friday, February 07, 2014

Facebook celebrated its 10th year anniversary. And as a treat to their millions of patrons, a video look back was available for everybody. It show highlights of what you share on Facebook. It's a short video version of your timeline. It features your most liked posts. And you can share it to everybody. Though you cannot choose what it is to be featured in the video, it's quite nice all in all. Here's mine by the way. Sorry for the poor quality. I did not capture the background music. It looks like a mini silent movie. Apologies.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Thursday, February 06, 2014

As usual, work gets in the way of my blogging. That is why I am doing a Wednesday Happy Thoughts post on a Thursday. Here goes....

  1. Conquering Mt. Makiling! NAC's first climb of the year.
  2. Dinah, Teng, Mae and I surviving getting lost in the woods. Actually, we are not lost, more like napaglaruan.  My most unforgettable and weirdest experience so far.
  3. I was attacked, several times, by the 'limatiks' but they failed to bite and suck blood from me.
  4. Meeting new friends.
  5. We already got our singlets for the Apocalypse Run this Saturday. After the limatiks, I will face the zombies next. Bring it on!
  6. My husband for being the sweetest.
  7. Leslie, Mirko and Aily getting along more often. Achievement yun ah!
  8. Cambodia and Vietnam...see you soon! 9 days to go! (Excited kahit wala pang budget)
  9. Not playing Flappy Bird and not getting frustrated...hehehe!
  10. Finding peace amidst the annoying people around me.

2013 Goodreads Reading Challenge

Thursday, January 23, 2014

January last year I joined a reading challenge via Goodreads and successfully finished my goal. This year I aim for 5 more books for the challenge. Below are the books I read and my favorite quotes from the books. Yes, I know most of it are under 'Young Adult' genre. Well, my daughter and I share the same bookshelf.

"We accept the love we think we deserve." -- Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

"Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can. But life leaps over oblivion lightly, losing only a thing or two of no importance, and gloom is but the passing shadow of a cloud."  -- Yann Martel, Life of Pi

“For she had embodied the Great Perhaps--she had proved to me that it was worth it to leave behind my minor life for grander maybes, and now she was gone and with her my faith in perhaps.”  -- John Green, Looking for Alaska

“Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.” -- Veronica Roth, Divergent

“Cruelty does not make a person dishonest, the same way bravery does not make a person kind.”    --  Veronica Roth, Insurgent

“It is a strange world," I murmured, more to myself than to the native soul.

"The strangest," he agreed.”   -- Stephanie Meyer, The Host

“There will come a time when all of us are dead. All of us. There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you. Everything that we did and built and wrote and thought and discovered will be forgotten and all of this will have been for naught. Maybe that time is coming soon and maybe it is millions of years away, but even if we survive the collapse of our sun, we will not survive forever. There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God knows that’s what everyone else does.”   --  John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

“Books are the ultimate Dumpees: put them down and they’ll wait for you forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back.”   --  John Green, An Abundance of Katherines

“When you are measuring life, you are not living it.”    --  Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper

“There are five people you meet in heaven. Each of us was in your life for a reason. You may not have known the reason at the time, and that is what heaven is for. For understanding your life on earth. This is the greatest gift God can give you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for.”    --  Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven

“When someone is in your heart, they're never truly gone. They can come back to you, even at unlikely times.”    -- Mitch Albom, For One More Day

“Faith is about doing. You are how you act, not just how you believe.”    --  Mitch Albom, Have a Little Faith: A True Story

“The mistake ninety-nine percent of humanity made, as far as Fats could see, was being ashamed of what they were; lying about it, trying to be somebody else.”    ---  J. K. Rowling, The Casual Vacancy

“Eventual, as Pug used to say. When he wanted to say something was really good, he's never say it was awesome, like most people do; he'd say it was eventual. How funny is that? The old Pugmeister. ”   --   Stephen King, Everything's Eventual

“Brave enough to be quiet when quiet was called for, brave enough to observe before flinging myself into something, brave enough to not abandon my true self when someone else wanted to seduce or force me in a direction I didn't want to go, brave enough to stand my ground quietly.”    --  Piper Kerman, Orange is the New Black

“How does one become a butterfly? They have to want to learn to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”  --   Trina Paulus, Hope for the Flowers

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”   -- Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“I'll say it one last time: Be brave.”  --  Veronica Roth, Allegiant

“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”   -- Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

“At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. The hard thing is finding the courage to do it.”  -- Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Never forget to be grateful for everything given to you. Be reminded and always be thankful. Here goes....

  1. Last night's family dinner....kumpleto kami! Except for my husband. (insert sad face )
  2. The sinigang na baboy, Jollibee friend chicken, mashed potato, J. Co donuts, and Selecta ice cream we shared last night.
  3. And, yes, I broke my 'after six' diet. But it's still okay.
  4. And we watched Catching Fire afterwards.
  5. The Book Thief. I never read the book yet but I watched the movie four times already.
  6. Learned a magic trick and I've been performing it with my officemates who are equally fascinated. (Clap, clap, clap)
  7. Last Sunday jogging with my aunties and cousins. A fun way of breaking a sweat on a very cold morning.
  8. Zumba.
  9. An unexpected gift from Ed....a desk calendar!
  10. Frozen the movie and its songs. Making me endure the weather.

It's Cold!!!

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

I am a summer girl. I mentioned it here a couple of times. That is why I feel a little off with the weather these days. It's too cold! I can make do with a light breeze or a mild draft. But what we are experiencing here in the Philippines (being a tropical country and all) is not light nor mild. Last Sunday was the coldest (8.1 degrees Celsius) in Baguio recorder this year. Here in Metro Manila, we experience a 17.5 degrees Celsius temperature last Saturday. Brrrrr.....

My problem with this weather are....
  • My normal shower time is 45 minutes or up. That is twice a day. Now, I struggle every morning just to survive staying under the shower for 5 minutes. One time I switch to using 'tabo' (dipper) because I find it difficult to breath under the cold shower. But I assure you I still take a bath everyday, a shorter one but still everyday.
  • I never like wearing jackets and long pants. But these past few nights I've been sleeping with my jacket and jogging pants on. Yes, jacket and jogging pants. Pajamas won't do. It's still too cold. And a pair of socks also for my freezing feet.
  • We seldom turn on the fans. Well, we can save on electricity but the mosquitoes keep pestering our everyday activity.
  • I am suffering form dry skin during cold season. My lips cracked. And it's painful.
  • Malls do not appeal to me anymore. If they would turn off their air conditoning unit I guess I would stay longer.
  • We are doing our first climb on February 2 and I don't know if I can take the cold going up the mountain or even when we reach the summit. I don't even own a good pair of jacket. Oh God help me.

Baguio last Sunday

I know I am being maarte because other parts of the world are experiencing worse. People are dying in America because of the cold weather brought upon by the 'Polar Vortex'.

I guess I just have to make do. Keep my jackets handy and drink more hot beverages. Brrrrrr.....
